ABOUT US
HISTORY, MISSION & VALUES
YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women’s organization in the world. Across the globe, there are more than 25 million members in 122 countries, including over 2 million members in 300 local associations in the United States. YWCA has been at the forefront of the most pressing social movements for more than 160 years — from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity, from violence prevention to health care reform. Today, we combine programming and advocacy in order to generate institutional change in three key areas: racial justice and civil rights, empowerment and economic advancement of women and girls, and health and safety of women and girls.

The YWCA Darien/Norwalk chapter has provided education, programs, and experiences for nearly 50 years that empower individuals and create a more unified community. We are a cornerstone of the community, fostering a vibrant, values-driven organization aligned with our mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
