Our community came together to take a stand agains

Our community came together to take a stand against domestic violence — and the impact was powerful:

🌟 Over 50 neighborhoods lit up on Illumination Night
💪 Dozens of women and girls learned real-world safety skills at our Self-Defense Class
💬 Parents & teens joined important conversations on recognizing unsafe relationships

✨ Social Media Spotlight ✨ – Youth Empowerment Committee 🗳️

At their last meeting, the YWCA’s Youth Empowerment Committee (YEC) explored voting rights and the democratic process — then created impactful, original flyers to encourage voter participation and highlight the importance of civic engagement in our community.

With that, here’s how you can make your voice heard:

YWCA Parent Awareness is proud to partner with @thrivingyouthdarien, @the_darien_depot, @darienymca, @wavestrong, @middlesexparentassociation and @oktodelay_darien to present “One Second of Strength” with TEDx and international motivational speaker Tanner Clark next Monday, November 3rd @ 7PM.

Through his “One Second of Strength” framework, Tanner empowers teens and families to see how the power of a single choice can help you rise above distractions, refocus, and pursue what truly matters.

Domestic violence doesn’t just affect individuals, it impacts entire families.

When violence enters a home, children experience fear, instability, and lasting emotional harm. But when families are supported — through education, counseling, and community connection — the cycle of abuse can be broken.

Here in Connecticut, recent data shows that far too many children have been caught in the crossfire of family violence. The good news? Early intervention and prevention programs do work.
