The YWCA Darien/Norwalk’s Week Without Violence is an annual campaign held in the third week of October to raise awareness of and promote action to end violence against women, young women, and girls. We invite everyone in the community to participate in the Week Without Violence and to join us in the fight to end violence against women, young women, and girls.
Luminary Night is a community vigil held to honor victims of violence and to show support for survivors. On Sunday evening, October 22nd we ask that you light them outside their homes at dusk. Often neighborhoods coordinate to light their block together and gather as a community.
You can purchase your Luminary Kits below or at Palmers Market in Darien.
Those who purchase luminary kits online can pick them up at the YWCA. We encourage neighborhoods to designate “block captains” to coordinate purchase and pickup for their neighborhood.
Head to our Donation Page and select the $500. You can also mail a check to our office in Darien.

For each luminary kit sold, the YWCA will donate an item to the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC). Our Youth Empowerment Committee will use the items to make Welcome Baskets for DVCC clients moving into new housing.
